Former West Ham United manager David Moyes has been paying his former club plenty of compliments over the last few days.
There was a time when the Scotsman appeared to be bitter about all things West Ham. However, in interviews this week, “The Moyesiah” seems to have mellowed slightly and has even started to offer advice to under-pressure head coach Julen Lopetegui.
Moyes has been heavily linked with the Southampton job following their sacking of Russell Martin, but the suggestion has received a lukewarm response from Saints fans. The former West Ham gaffer has used some of his time in the limelight to heap praise on Irons players and even admitted that he watches his former club on TV regularly.

“They’ve got a really good and talented group of players, and I think it’s really important they give the manager time,” said a very gracious Moyes.
While the 61-year-old stopped short of praising Lopetegui directly, his comments strike a very different tone to those at the start of the season when his Hammers exit was still fresh in his mind.
Perhaps his new “chilled” and gracious demeanour is down to him finding another job, which is not yet public knowledge. That being said, I can’t see Moyes moving to the south coast anytime soon and still suspect he’s waiting patiently for his old job at Everton to become available again.
