City Join Chelsea And Arsenal In Watching£62M Rated Striker In Action On Friday Night

Manchester City had scouts ‘in attendance’ to watch Benjamin Sesko score in RB Leipzig’s 5-1 defeat to Bayern Munich, according to reports.

TBRFootball claim that the Premier League champions were there to keep an eye on the Slovenian international and they would have been impressed by what they saw after he found the back of the net just 2 minutes into the match.

The Cityzens were not the only Premier League club who were watching Sesko on Friday evening, though, with Chelsea and Arsenal also having observers present.

Both London clubs have a longstanding interest in the striker, who they tried to sign back in June before he put pen to paper on a new contract with Leipzig.

Sesko’s price tag is already public knowledge

Reports in the German media have suggested that, despite signing a contract extension last summer, the 21-year-old has an agreement in place that he can leave if a club pays a certain fee.

It is believed that an offer between €70m (£58m) and €75m (£62m) will be enough to secure Sesko’s services at the end of the season.

City do need to strengthen their options up front

The sale of Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid back in August means that manager Pep Guardiola doesn’t have a backup if Erling Haaland gets injured.

While the Norwegian has kept himself fit this season, they cannot rely on him to play in every single game. An additional striker is really needed.

Whether Sesko is a realistic target, though, it is debatable. The Slovenian is unlikely to be happy being Haaland’s understudy.

With that being the case, City may explore alternatives. It was claimed earlier this week that the club are also interested in Spartak Moscow forward Manfred Ugalde.
