Manchester United are in pole position to sign 17-year-old Norwegian teen sensation Sverre Nypan. Pundits claim him to be the “Next Ødegaard” as he has similar potential. The young lad has already cemented his spot at Rosenborg’s starting XI. According to TEAMtalk, the Red Devils are leading the race to sign him ahead of rivals Chelsea.
Nypan is praised for his versatility on the pitch. He can play as a central midfielder, attacking midfielder and a striker. His vision, ability to strike the ball makes him stand out from others. He’s been involved in 15 G/A this season in just 28 appearances.

As per sources, Nypan is also said to be pursued by Chelsea. The Blues have a knack of signing young prospects and sign them on long contracts. The Cobham scouts have identified Nypan’s talent and have began to enquire about the player. Manchester United could very well get some stiff competition from their rivals.
Both Chelsea and Manchester United could benefit from this signing. New managers have arrived in both these historic clubs and are on a transition period. The Blues have been doing brilliant across all competitions this season. Therefore, the manager will demand players next season. We all know, Chelsea need a striker desperately.
On the other hand, Manchester United have struggled to produce top prospects from their academy. They want a top talent to grow alongside the likes of Amad Diallo. Ruben Amorim loves to nurture young talents and build them into superstars. We’ve seen him do that at Sporting Club Lisbon. The Red Devils will hope that he’ll do the same with Sverre if he signs for them. There will be plenty of exits next season as well, he will be a much-needed replacement too.

Rosenborg have placed a price tag of £83m on Sverre Nypan. They do not want to give away one of their biggest talents without a fight. The club will hope that this hefty price tag deters the Red Devils. The 17-year-old will definitely agree on personal terms, as it is a dream come true if he gets such a hefty contract at this age.
Manchester United have been in negotiations with the club and player’s representatives regarding a possible deal. A deal in the January transfer window hasn’t been ruled out yet. As things stand, it is set to be Ruben Amorim’s maiden signing in his new journey.

The Norwegian also claimed that it’s a dream for him to play for a club like Manchester United. Given Mason Mount is injured again, he could fit in his position and cement that spot for himself. However, it’s a gamble for Manchester United yet again. Paying such a hefty price, for such a young kid will exert a lot of pressure on his shoulders. The manager will hope that the pressure doesn’t mount on him and get him on his head.

I think that signing Sverre Nypan for an amount of £83m is ridiculous. Yes, he might be a top prospect, but he hasn’t been tested yet. If his price tag was around £15-20 million it was worth taking a risk. Big money signings not only create pressure on the player but also on the manager to make them perform.
However, it’s a new manager and he’s getting his priorities sorted. All will hope that the player will be able to adapt to the Premier league and cement his spot at Manchester United in the new era of Amorim-ball.
