Leicester City can gain an edge over their relegation rivals depending on what business they do in the January transfer window.
Ruud van Nistelrooy is assessing his Leicester squad ahead of the window opening next month, and there are multiple positions the Dutchman needs to plug.
The Foxes have the third-worst defence in the Premier League, with Leicester being linked to Atalanta defender Ben Godfrey as a result.
Van Nistelrooy would also ideally like to add a right winger to his squad following the long-term injury to Abdul Fatawu. A loan move for Miguel Almiron from Newcastle is on the agenda.
Meanwhile, Brighton loanee Facundo Buonanotte has urged Leicester to sign one player who could ‘learn’ from Jamie Vardy.

Facundo Buonanotte urges Leicester City to sign Tottenham’s Alejo Veliz
Ahead of the transfer window, Buonanotte said during a chat with Sportcenter, as relayed by Ole, that Leicester should sign Tottenham striker Alejo Veliz, who has been dubbed ‘incredible’.
The 21-year-old is currently on loan at Spanish side Espanyol however, he’s only found the net once in 13 La Liga appearances and the Foxes star thinks he’d be better off learning from Vardy.
“I would tell Tanque [Alejo] Véliz to come here to learn from Jamie Vardy. He is on loan but now he is at Tottenham, so I think he knows about this. During the time we were at Central we made a nice duo,” he said.

Buonanotte is referencing the time the pair spent together in Argentina with Rosario Central and believes Veliz signing for van Nistelrooy would help them rekindle their partnership.
Sadly, the 19-year-old is unlikely to be granted the wish of signing his former teammate as Leicester have already used up their two Premier League loan spots, one of them being Buonanotte.
Leicester must cancel Odsonne Edouard’s loan
While Buonanotte has been a success story on loan, Odsonne Edouard has endured a nightmare at the King Power Stadium.
Signed to become a reliable deputy to Vardy, the Frenchman has only played 142 minutes of top-flight football and failed to impress during his time on the pitch.
Leicester will be hoping they can cancel the forwards’ loan in January and luckily, Crystal Palace plans on selling Edouard.
The 26-year-old having his loan cut short would be the dream scenario for van Nistelrooy, as it would allow him to invest wages into another Premier League star such as Brighton’s Evan Ferguson.
