Chelsea 'make £58m goalkeeper transfer decision' as Sanchez pressure grows

Enzo Maresca could be looking at replacing Robert Sanchez as his first-choice Chelsea goalkeeper in the not-too-distant future. Despite Filip Jorgensen being brought in over the summer, Maresca quickly made it clear that Sanchez was going to be the No.1 with that stance remaining despite a number of errors.

To many, Sanchez could have done much better from the goals conceded to Brighton, Arsenal and Manchester United. The Spaniard has responded well to criticism though with a strong performance against Brentford last weekend.

Despite that, it appears likely that Jorgensen will make his second Premier League appearance for the Blues over the Christmas period. The Danish shot-stopper made his debut in a midweek clash with Southampton and thus him featuring against Fulham, five days on from Sunday's clash against Everton, is entirely plausible.

A strong display could soon see him dislodge Sanchez however it could actually be a different goalkeeper that does that. According to German media outlet Bild, Chelsea are interested in Borussia Dortmund's Gregor Kobel with it possible he departs if no Champions League football is secured for the German outfit.

It has also been noted that the Switzerland international could cost the Blues up to £58million if they attempt to sign him in the January transfer window. Alongside Diogo Costo of Porto and AC Milan's Mike Maignan, Kobel has been linked to Chelsea for some time.

Priorities may lie elsewhere in the winter window for Chelsea however, with Enzo Maresca revealing that Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile will now both miss a significant period through injury. Asked about the defensive duo in a press conference, he said: "Both they are still out and both will still be out for a long period."

Levi Colwill, Tosin Adarabioyo and Axel Disasi are now the only natural centre-backs that are fit which may tempt Maresca to explore the market for another defender. With that being said, Renato Veiga is capable of playing in that position having starred their on a number of occasions for Portugal.
