Chelsea are now being linked in the transfer rumour mill with a new name to boost their defence.
There is already plenty of decent options within the Chelsea squad to play in the heart of defence, with Wesley Fofana and Levi Colwill emerging as the standout centre-back partnership. On top of that, the Blues also have the likes of Tosin Adarabioyo, Axel Disasi and Benoit Badiashile to pick in the backline.
Chelsea are prepared to let Disasi leave in January amid transfer interest from Premier League rivals West Ham.
Interestingly, Enzo Maresca’s side are now tipped to be eyeing a Champions League defender.

Chelsea looking at Feyenoord star David Hancko
According to TEAMtalk, Chelsea are one of the clubs looking at Feyenoord defender David Hancko as a transfer target.
It is explained that Chelsea, Tottenham, Juventus and Atletico Madrid are keen on the 27-year-old central defender. As a result, a transfer race for his signature could break out in 2025.
The report says that the Blues have been keeping tabs recently on the Eredivisie star. In addition, Hancko may be available to sign for around £41m next summer.
If Chelsea do need to add another defensive recruit, Hancko looks like he could be a really intriguing option. The left-footed centre-back hasn’t played in the Premier League before in his career, but he’s certainly got plenty of top-level experience. For instance, he’s got 48 senior international caps for Slovakia.

Chelsea alternatives
Hancko isn’t the only central defender to be linked with Chelsea this week, though.
Interestingly, Chelsea are looking at Barcelona centre-back Eric Garcia, who’s available to sign for around £21m in the January window.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are weighing up a move for Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi as they consider attempting to resign their former centre-half.
Jamie Carragher thinks Chelsea need another centre-back, along with a new goalkeeper, before they can win the Premier League title. It’s going to be interesting to see if the Blues do decide to splash the cash on another defender in the New Year.
