Transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano has provided a significant update on Arsenal’s pursuit of French striker Randal Kolo Muani, who could be available in the January transfer window.

The Gunners are currently evaluating areas to improve this season, with Mikel Arteta expressing full confidence in his players to close the gap on Liverpool and Chelsea in the Premier League table and end a two-decade wait for a league title in North London.

Arsenal, sitting third in the Premier League, are aiming to bounce back after securing just one win in their last three matches. The Gunners face Crystal Palace on Saturday as they look to regain momentum in their push for the top of the table.

Despite the striker’s potential availability, Arsenal are not pursuing a deal for Paris Saint-Germain forward Randal Kolo Muani in the January transfer window, according to Romano.

Recent reports had suggested the 26-year-old could become a target for the Gunners in early 2025. However, Romano clarified that Arsenal are not currently engaged in talks with Kolo Muani or PSG.

“There are no contacts ongoing with Kolo Muani or PSG so far, but Kolo will be available on the market and could be one to watch for several clubs,” Romano stated.

Kolo Muani has struggled for regular minutes at PSG this season under manager Luis Enrique. The forward has made just two Ligue 1 starts, scoring twice, as Ousmane Dembele and Goncalo Ramos are ahead of him in the pecking order. His challenging stint at the French champions followed a £76 million move from Eintracht Frankfurt in September 2023.

With limited opportunities in Paris, speculation over Kolo Muani’s future has intensified. Manchester United have been named as a potential suitor, while it remains unclear if Arsenal will reconsider their stance as the January window approaches.

The Gunners refrained from signing a new forward during the summer transfer window, opting instead to make strategic investments in other areas of the squad. Notable arrivals included Mikel Merino and Riccardo Calafiori on permanent deals, along with Raheem Sterling and Neto on loan.

When asked about Arsenal’s transfer plans for January, manager Mikel Arteta expressed confidence in his squad. “I fully trust the squad,” Arteta said, adding that any activity in January would depend on available opportunities.
