Chelsea are preparing for a Sunday pre-Christmas special against Everton at Goodison Park tomorrow afternoon, and the club have just released the training footage from this week. These clips always give us a nice little look at the mood behind the scenes, and as you’d expect given recent results, there’s a real buzz at Cobham for some afternoon sessions, despite the December gloom.
The players were all out there for shooting training and aerial rondos. The shooting saw Cole Palmer lash a few great efforts in and Jadon Sancho continue his noted development of his shooting skills.
But Levi Colwill hits perhaps the biggest screamer of all from his left foot, searing a ball across goal into the side netting. What a hit!

There truly is nothing footballers love more than rondos – the squeals of excitement they generate have no comparison in anything else they do.
Usually they’re on the ground but today there was a mid-air version in Chelsea’s session. Poor old Ben Chilwell – who these days we basically only get to see in these behind the scenes clips as he continues his status as effectively an outcast from the squad – was blamed for two of his team’s failures in a row. Once he tries an ambitious backheel which doesn’t come off, and once he backs out of a challenge and lets the ball drop, before trying to claim he was confronted by a “high foot.”
Both mistakes are met with mocking jeers of “oh, Chilly!” from his teammates, as you’d expect. There’s no pity and mercy at this level. But of course the game soon moves on, and before long it’s someone else in hot water for an error…
