After a mixed week which saw Manchester United snatch a derby win at the home of neighbours Manchester City and an enthralling, error-laden Carabao Cup loss to Tottenham Hotspur, the Red Devils will hope to restore some calm and order in a home game against Bournemouth this Sunday, December 22(Kick off 2PM). Here is the Manchester United predicted lineup for the Premier League clash.
Manchester United Predicted Lineup vs Bournemouth In Sunday Afternoon Premier League Clash
How Manchester United Have Lined-up Recently
Manchester United have lined up in a 3-4-2-1 formation since Ruben Amorim arrived at the club, with André Onana playing every game barring Thursday’s defeat to Tottenham, in which number two Altay Bayandir did little to convince anyone he will be pushing for the number one spot any time soon.
The defence has consisted of Noussair Mazraoui, Matthijs de Ligt and Lisandro Martinez, rotating with Harry Maguire, the impressive youngster Lény Yoro and Victor Lindelof. Amorim has experimented with wing-backs, with Amad Diallo, Antony, Diogo Dalot, Tyrell Malacia and Mazraoui all trying their hand in the position.
In midfield, Manuel Ugarte has nailed down a starting spot alongside Captain Bruno Fernandes, the Portuguese international looking to cement a more withdrawn role under his compatriot. Rotation options include Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Kobbie Mainoo.
In attacking midfield, Amad, the wantaway Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho are competing for two spots, with Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund vying for the number 9 spot, although the Dutchman has looked more at home in a deeper role since joining this summer.
Manchester United Recent Form and Tactics
Despite a mixed bag of results of late, a clear identity and tactical plan is beginning to come to fruition under Amorim, with the Red Devils dominating large portions of recent games despite variations in the final outcome. Indeed, a three-man defence has brought added stability and foundation to the side, providing a platform for the team to be more comfortable in possession and find spaces further up the field easier.

Whilst there are still weaknesses to iron out, notably defending crosses and set pieces, the team is trending upwards and Sunday’s encounter with Andoni Iraola’s Cherries will provide a stern test at Old Trafford.
Manchester United Injuries to Consider
A fresh injury setback for Mason Mount will see him out for several weeks in a thigh injury, whilst Victor Lindelof has been ruled out with an unknown issue. Luke Shaw is also out for several more weeks.
