Real Madrid star will pick up a one-game ban if booked vs Sevilla

A leading member of the midfield ranks at La Liga champions Real Madrid will be forced to walk the disciplinary tightrope in the club’s next outing.

The player in question? Luka Modrić.

Real Madrid are of course primed to see out their fixture list for the calendar year on Sunday evening.

As much will come by way of a La Liga meeting with Sevilla at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Fresh off a draining trip to Qatar for the Intercontinental Cup final in midweek, Carlo Ancelotti and his staff will be expected to shake things up to at least some extent when it comes to personnel.

The aforementioned Luka Modrić, in turn, could be in line for a rare start.

And, in the case of as much, the Croatian veteran will need to watch his step.

Modrić has for his part picked up four yellow cards across the Spanish top-flight season to date.

In the case of being booked on Sunday, the midfielder will therefore be facing up to a one-game suspension, for Real’s ensuing fixture against Valencia on January 3rd.
