Arsenal winger Raheem Sterling however, isn’t having a great season. He joined on loan from Chelsea in the summer and has since made 11 appearances for the Gunners, starting just one game in the Premier League.
Many have questioned whether Arsenal should terminate his loan deal in January as he doesn’t hold much of a role in Mikel Arteta‘s starting XI.
Jermaine Pennant told Instant Casino: “I wouldn’t go as far as to say that he will get his contract terminated because of respect and the service he has given in the Premier League, but I don’t think he will be seen in an Arsenal shirt too often again.”
He instead recommended that Arsenal sign Bryan Mbeumo to make an impact in the second half of the season.
“Bryan Mbuemo would be a good signing,” he said, “he has proven in that Brentford that he can contribute, if he was in a team that had more of the ball and created more chances, he would be even more prolific.
“The creativity from the left hand is an aspect that concerns me, they need to get somebody like him and a good number nice who can chip in with more goals. It means they don’t have to be so reliant on Bukayo Saka.”
Arsenal linked to Bryan Mbuemo
Arsenal have been linked over a transfer move for Mbuemo following his impressive performances for Brentford so far this season.
A report emerged in September suggesting that the Gunners explored a deal for Mbeumo before they decided to sign Sterling on loan.
However, following Sterling’s lacklustre start to life at the Emirates, Arsenal could go back in for Mbuemo to replace the former England international.
