Arsenal is on a winning streak this week. They have defeated Crystal Palace in the quarterfinals of the Carabao Cup.
REDEMPTION OF JESUS BEFORE CHRISTMAS
Gabriel Jesus, the Brazil international has made a dream return no one was expecting. The Arsenal forward led the ignition by scoring 3 goals in a 3-2 win to reach the League Cup semi-finals.
After a long rather inconsistent week of no wins, they finally got a win. They are currently third in the Premier League. So, it is a good position for Mikel Arteta.
This performance has Arsenal fans have butterflies in their stomachs. Therefore, Arteta is quite amused and relieved by their performance.
Arsenal has their prolific striker back now that the competition has taken its best form. Even Arteta is confident in the domestic league.
Liverpool only ahead of them by 6 points, will have to buckle up. Because anything can happen. This comeback has now taken the Gunners to the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup.
CARABAO CUP SETS UP THE BAR HIGH
So, Palace’s squad looked stacked before the match. But, after the half-time, Mikel Arteta‘s tactics changed the dynamics entirely.
It was Jesus who saved Arsenal. He only had one goal in his last 34 games. However, he came to his manager’s rescue and pulled one back late on against his former club.
Arteta is pleased with his striker. Finally, he knows the importance of the no. 9 in his jersey.
Coming back from a drought of goals to performing a hat-trick in front of his fans is worth mentioning. Arteta has claimed that he is unique and the team can surely make use of his unique ability.
Arteta also seems to add that this win can springboard this team to winning bigger trophies. His team also shows where his true loyalties lie.
After the disappointing draw against Everton on Saturday, Kieran Tierney was recalled for his first start since the 2023 Community Shield and the Chelsea loanee Raheem Sterling also made a rare appearance.
Additionally, they are also marketing for a new player after this certain win. After winning only two Carabao Cups since Steve Marrow’s 1993 heroism. So, it is gaining confidence for the Gunners’ squad.
The more they invest in this tournament, the more they will get the outcome.
AUTHOR’S OPINION
The more I see this team, the more I realize that this team deserves a chance at winning. But, still something never quite feels right with this team.
The history of winning leagues and the cups has not been so kind to the Gunners. Since Wenger, it has been either Manchester United in the domestic league or Liverpool in the European stages.
Even their rivals have tasted both of the worlds. But, maybe this time for the 5th season, Arteta might give the Arsenal fans yet another major trophy.
This will eventually be enlisted as a huge moment in Arteta’s managerial career. Not only the Carabao Cup, but also the Champions League where they are third in the group table.
But, Liverpool is still ahead of them. They have the higher ground, but even the mighty Liverpool has a history of bottling at the last second. So, it’s all about a matter of time, whose chance is whose.
Overall, Arsenal has finally got back their No. 9 striker who can score goals. His consistency will be the key to their success in the later matches.
Its all about Arteta and what his tactics will do in the next matches is what we all look forward to.
