Bukayo Saka on crutches in major Arsenal injury blow

Arsenal star Bukayo Saka left Selhurst Park walking on crutches after sustaining an injury against Crystal Palace on Saturday evening.

The England winger was forced off the pitch in the first half after clutching his hamstring and was replaced by Leandro Trossard in the 25th minute.

The Gunners managed just fine without him as they won 5-1 thanks to a brace from Gabriel Jesus and goals from Kai Havertz, Gabriel Martinelli and Declan Rice.

But the 23-year-old is likely to sit out Arsenal‘s next few games to try while he recovers over the festive period and possibly beyond, which would be a huge blow to the side as they seek to challenge for the Premier League title.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said the injury was “not good news” but was otherwise unable to provide an update on Saka‘s condition.

“I don’t know,” he told Sky Sports. “He had to come off because he felt something. It is not good news obviously. We have to assess him.”

Arteta also told BBC Match of the Day: “He felt something. It is too early to assess him. It was a precaution with him right now.”
