£50m Newcastle target sends two-word message to Alexander Isak after his hat-trick vs Ipswich

Newcastle United may have just become more appealing thanks to recent results.

After a fairly shaky start to the season, the Magpies have come out of their shell and taken a big leap towards a return to European football next season.

The Magpies made it into the Carabao Cup semi-finals on Wednesday and put four past Premier League strugglers Ipswich Town on Saturday.

Newcastle fans will be delighted to see the midfield partnership of Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali improving every game.

Jacob Murphy found the back of the net for a second consecutive league game and bagged an assist to help Newcastle to a 4-0 win.

Players have gone to social media to celebrate the win, with stars commenting and showing support. But it was a comment from a player Newcastle were heavily linked with in the summer that will make Toon fans ears perk up.

Former Newcastle United target Anthony Elanga comments on Alexander Isak’s Instagram post

After scoring a magnificent hat-trick, Alexander Isak took to Instagram to write about his performance.

He said: “Merry Christmas!”

Fellow teammates like Joe Willock and Guimaraes put comments on the post congratulating him. However, Anthony Elanga who could’ve joined Newcastle for £50m in the summer also commented.

He said.

‘Too easy.’

Interestingly, it’s been stated that the Magpies could go back in for Elanga in January.

Elanga is Isak’s fellow countryman and plays alongside him for the Swedish national team but Newcastle fans wouldn’t be shunned if they began to get excited about what the comment could mean.

While Newcastle battled PSR in the summer a move for Elanga was discussed with Nottingham Forest while the Magpies also made a deadline-day bid for the 22-year-old which was knocked back by Forest.

It’s unsure whether Newcastle will go back in for Elanga but they are keen on signing a winger in the upcoming transfer window.

Isak is close to surpassing Callum Wilson’s Newcastle goal tally

Last season Isak was a goal-scoring machine becoming the first player since Alan Shearer to score 20 goals in a Premier League season.

Callum Wilson found good form during the 2022/23 season which saw him net 18 times in the Premier League bringing his all-time tally with the club up massively.

The 32-year-old sits currently sits on 48 goals in all competitions for Newcastle but now has Isak breathing down his neck on 46.

The way Isak has been playing there’s a chance his number could be matched or even bettered by the New Year.
