Gabriel Jesus put an end to two frustrating records as Arsenal cruised to a 5-1 victory over Crystal Palace, reigniting their Premier League title challenge.
Handed just his third league start of the season, Jesus wasted no time making an impact, scoring after only six minutes at Selhurst Park. The goal ended a personal drought of 24 Premier League matches without finding the net, a streak that dated back to January.
Astonishingly, it also marked Arsenal’s first goal from open play in three league games, silencing critics who suggested the team had become overly reliant on set pieces.

Jesus wasn’t done, doubling his tally in the 14th minute to restore Arsenal’s lead after Ismaïla Sarr had equalised for the hosts. The Brazilian came close to completing a first-half hat-trick when his shot struck the post, but Kai Havertz was quick to capitalise on the rebound, making it 3-1.
Gabriel Jesus has gone from not scoring a Premier League goal for a whole year to scoring five goals in two games.

Speaking after the game, Jesus expressed relief and determination. “I am very happy with the goals. As a number nine, I know the pressure is always on to score. But the win and the three points were massive today,” he said.

“I know my qualities and believe I can score, but it’s about putting myself in the right positions. Today, I scored two and missed one that I’ll be dreaming of tonight. Playing with a smile on my face changes everything. I’m just trying to stay strong mentally and help the team,” he added.
Gabriel Jesus emphasised the importance of consistency in his performances. “When a player is playing regularly, it’s different. I’m happy to get more chances, but it’s up to me to deliver. Arsenal is a huge club, and there’s always pressure on the number nine to score.”
The Brazilian’s brace brings his tally to seven goals in all competitions this season, with five of them coming against Crystal Palace over the past four days.
