The January transfer window is just a matter of weeks away and rumours are starting to heat up as Manchester United, along with their Premier League rivals, consider bolstering their squad ahead of the second half of the season.

United currently sit outside of the top 10 in the league standings ahead of Sunday's home clash against Bournemouth. Ruben Amorim's side are several points off the top four as things stand, and the Portuguese coach will undoubtedly be eager to put his own stamp on the team following his arrival at the beginning of November.

With that being said, the Manchester Evening News have taken a look at some of the latest United transfer headlines and gossip from the last 24 hours...

Two United stars placed on transfer list

Amorim has made two United stars available for transfers in January, if recent reports are anything to go by. According journalist to Fabrizio Romano, speaking to GiveMeSport, Christian Eriksen and Victor Lindelof are deemed surplus to requirements at Old Trafford and could be on the move next month, although there is currently nothing concrete.

Lindelof has been at United since his move from Benfica in 2017 and he has amassed over 260 appearances for the club so far. His most recent outing was their 4-3 Carabao Cup quarter-final defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday evening, but that was just his ninth appearance of the current campaign.

Eriksen, on the other hand, joined from Premier League rivals Brentford in 2022 after spells at Inter Milan, Spurs and Ajax. Both players are out of contract in the summer and are yet to pen fresh terms, meaning they will be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with clubs outside of England in the new year.

MEN Sport says: With both players set to be out of contract in a little over six months, now could be the perfect time to cash in if the interest is there. Whether the pair move on in January or the summer will certainly depend on potential incomings, as well as other outgoings, as Amorim will be cautious not to leave the squad short for a crucial second half of the season.

United receive transfer boost for teenage star

Elsewhere, United have been handed a boost in their reported pursuit of £33m-rated teenage star Kenan Yildiz. The 19-year-old Turkey international currently plays his football in Italy with Juventus and has previously expressed a desire to remain with the Serie A giants.

However, a recent article from Corriere dello Sport claims Juve are eyeing a January move for Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali. It has been suggested that, in order to fund the move for the 24-year-old, Juve are open to the sale of Yildiz, with both United and Chelsea rumoured to hold an interest in the player.

MEN Sport says: United proved in the summer they are not afraid to spend big on promising young talent as defender Leny Yoro was signed from French side Lille for a significant fee. Yildiz represents an interesting prospect given he has already scored four and assisted five for Juventus in 23 appearances across all competitions. The stumbling block will likely be Juve's ability to poach Tonali from Newcastle, as well as the interest in Yildiz from rivals Chelsea and Aston Villa.
