Selfless Alexander Isak singles out ‘really helpful’ Newcastle United teammate after Ipswich win

It’s full speed ahead for Newcastle United as they enter a tricky part of the season with lots of momentum.

It was another win for Eddie Howe’s side on Saturday with Newcastle easily beating Ipswich 4-0 at Portman Road.

Alexander Isak scored a stunning hat-trick in the win becoming the first Newcastle player to achieve that since Ayoze Perez in 2019.

In the space of a week, Newcastle have played three games with a squad that has barely changed, scored 11 goals and conceded just one.

Martin Dubravka deserves credit for the two clean sheets as well as Dan Burn and Fabian Schar. But there is one person in particular that Isak believes should receive praise for his recent performances higher up the field.

“(Murphy) is really helpful, a team player.

“I am obviously happy for him that he gets rewarded with points too.”

Newcastle will be in the market for a winger in January but in the meantime, Murphy is an existing alternative that could save Paul Mitchell the stress of bringing a player in.

Howe will be keen to ensure Murphy’s purple patch continues as they enter a busy period of the season.

Jacob Murphy’s impressive run of form at Newcastle

Newcastle have three important games coming up against Aston Villa, Manchester United and Tottenham. Howe will be pleased with the time that Murphy has come into form, especially with those games on the horizon.

This season, Murphy has scored three goals and bagged five assists. The 29-year-old is just two assists away from equalling his best assists total at the club with over five months left in the season.

In the last three games alone Murphy has scored 3 goals and had three assists for his teammates.

With Newcastle eyeing a move for Johan Bakayoko and Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo on the Magpies radar Murphy has stepped up and shown his quality which leaves Mitchell with a big decision to make.
