Sean Dyche has been told that he is backed by The Friedkin Group after they completed their takeover, according to The Daily Mirror.

The former Burnley manager is out of contract in the summer and has been under heavy pressure in the dugout so far this season at Goodison Park.

Speculation was rife that the new owners were going to replace Dyche once they had taken control of the Merseyside club but this is not the case.

The newspaper reported in their Mirror Football print edition [page 4, 21 December] that new chief executive Mark Watts reassured Dyche of his immediate future in a meeting on Friday (19 December).

Will Dyche be Everton manager long-term?

It is no surprise that the Friedkin Group plans to keep Dyche in the short-term, they did the same when they took over at Roma.

They kept Paulo Fonseca until the end of their first season in charge and then replaced him with Jose Mourinho.

They will likely do the same with the Blues, keep Dyche for now to ensure survival then move on to a more accomplished manager.

The news that Dyche is unlikely to be sacked in the near future will be a blow to the section of the Toffees fanbase that want him to go.

However, the move makes sense, it ensures stability on the pitch and focus on the transfer window, the contract situation, and sorting backroom matters.

The only way that Dyche will be sacked is probably if the Blues are looking likely to be relegated towards the end of the campaign.
