Brentford boss Thomas Frank says he saw Nottingham Forest do something for the first time this…

Nottingham Forest served the Premier League with notice as the Reds became the first team to claim all three points at Brentford this season.

Prior to yesterday, the Bees had won seven and drawn one of their eight home games this season but Forest ransacked the Gtech Community Stadium and left with all three points.

Goals from Ola Aina and Anthony Elanga ensured a third successive victory for Forest and this was arguably the best of the whole lot.

Elanga claimed Jermain Defoe had messaged him in the week and he’s been acting as a bit of a motor for the Forest winger as he bids to improve his form.

Brian Laws hailed the tactical tweak that Forest made after this big win and now the Reds will hope to claim another victory when Tottenham come to the City Ground on Boxing Day.

Thomas Frank says Forest did something he’s not seen them do before this season

The Bees’ boss is right. Forest went with three at the back for this one with two wing-backs and no number 10.

He thinks that’s of testament to what Brentford have been trying to achieve on home soil and Frank unsurprisingly stopped short of actually praising an opposition.

The boss told the club’s official website: “Nottingham Forest defended well in big spells of the game – they also played 5-4-1, which is the first time they’ve done that this season, even after going to Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal, where they played a four in defence. That’s a big credit to what we’ve done.”

Frank is quality but very bitter

Forest deserve credit for their efforts yesterday and winning away at Brentford is certainly no mean feat.

Frank has worked wonders for Brentford and the model they use to run their football club is often the envy of teams in that position of the Premier League table.

Every time that Forest have had a positive result against one of his teams, however, he seems to get extremely salty in one sense or another.

Forest kept Brentford out of reach yesterday and naturally, Frank didn’t have an answer to the brilliance of Espirito Santo.

It’s all words from the Brentford boss and Forest will be buzzing to claim a third successive victory at such a tough place to go.
