Everton take on Chelsea today in the Premier League in their first match since The Friedkin Group completed their takeover of the club.
Fans rejoiced earlier this week as The Friedkin Group finally became the new owners of Everton, and a new dawn will now commence.
It’s been a turbulent past few years for the club, but fans are optimistic TFG will now provide some much needed stability, and that results on the pitch will improve as a result.
There are still plenty of questions about people’s futures.
But for now, Sean Dyche will remain as manager of Everton, and Kevin Thelwell will also be backed by the new owners. Indeed, Dyche said earlier this week The Friedkin Group are supporting him.
But today it’s back to business on the pitch for Everton – and Alan Shearer has been on hand to give his prediction.

It’s going to be fascinating to see which decisions The Friedkin Group make early on.
Leon Osman insisted to Friedkins that ‘stability is key’ earlier this week, and urged for the new owners to ‘keep the right people in the right places’.

Not rocking the boat too much to begin with could be important for TFG, but alan Shearer has warned Everton fans not to expect too much initially.
The legend was giving some thoughts about the club this week, and also made his prediction for the game with Chelsea.
Predicting a win for Chelsea he said (via Metro): “Everton should take confidence from last weekend. Jordan Pickford was outstanding
“Also with the takeover, great news for Everton looking forward but I don’t think that’ll have too much of an effect on the pitch.
“I think that the form Chelsea are in, the teams Maresca is able to put out I’d think that Chelsea will go to Goodison and take all the points.”
Friedkin Group should give Dyche time
Everton have had another poor season so far, but there is an argument to keep Dyche in place a little while longer.
The Friedkin Group might well have a list of potential replacements for Dyche. But they’ve surely got to see how he does after the January transfer window.
It’s all about survival and Dyche has managed to achieve that for the past couple of campaigns.
Making a managerial change now could be a big risk, especially when there aren’t too many obvious candidates out there for what Everton currently need.
