'I was really upset': Pedro Neto shares the Chelsea match that left him so disappointed this season

Pedro Neto has been speaking about one moment in Chelsea’s 4-3 win against Tottenham Hotspur that left him devastated.

Overall, it was a very good afternoon for Chelsea and Pedro Neto, who won the game after initially going 2-0 down.

Since then, Enzo Maresca‘s men have managed to close the gap at the top of the table to just two points.

They won their last outing in the Premier League, beating Brentford 2-1 in another London derby, but Neto played no part.

Pedro Neto upset with fifth yellow card against Tottenham

Neto picked up his fifth caution of the season in Chelsea’s 4-3 victory over Spurs, hence why he missed his side’s following win versus Brentford.

The winger has now told Chelsea’s official website that he was “really upset” after picking up that yellow card, knowing that he would miss the Brentford game as a result.

“To be honest it felt like I was out for a long time!” Neto said. “I want to be back with the team, I want to help the team again, so I’m looking forward to that.

“I just want to enjoy my football and want to play every game possible. I was really upset when I came off knowing I would miss the next game, but now I’m really happy to be back.”

With his suspension now over, Neto could return to the starting XI for today’s game against Everton at Goodison Park.

Pedro Neto on ‘really demanding’ Enzo Maresca

Neto has also been speaking about Maresca, describing the Chelsea head coach as “really demanding”.

In the same interview that has been shared by Chelsea’s official website, Neto said: “He asks for the consistency of the hard work and he is really demanding. Of course that comes from the coach, but the players as well.

“We have to take responsibility ourselves to work hard and keep our level high every day, because we have to improve as individuals and that is what we are doing at the moment.”

Maresca may be demanding a lot of his players right now, but that approach is clearly working when you look at where they are in the table.

The Blues also got through the league phase of the Conference League without breaking a sweat, so Maresca’s methods seem to be doing the trick.

They beat Shamrock Rovers 5-1 in their final match of the league phase, while they also managed to defeat Noah 8-0, showing just how easy the tournament has been for them so far.

All the signs suggest that Maresca is not going to let those standards drop at Chelsea, which is great news for supporters who have watched the club decline over these last couple of years.
