Former Liverpool midfielder Charlie Adam has left his role as manager of League Two team Fleetwood Town

The journey has to come an end for former Liverpool midfielder Charlie Adam as manager of League Two club Fleetwood Town. The ex-Scotland international was relieved of his duties after a disappointing start to the season.
Adam, 39, played for the Reds during the 2011/12 season. Signed by Sir Kenny Dalglish from relegated Blackpool for £7.5m, his nomination for PFA 2010/11 Player of the Season and comment from then-Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson - "His corner kicks are worth £10million in themselves" - prompted some excitement.
But the Scotsman never truly fit, signing a four-year deal at Stoke City a year after his arrival once Brendan Rodgers had replaced Dalglish at Liverpool. His record stood at 37 appearances, two goals and six assists.

Even though it never worked out with the Reds, his spells with the Potters and Tangerines in the English top-flight bore much more fruit. Retiring at boyhood club Dundee two-years ago, he has gone on to forge a career in management with his first job at Fleetwood Town starting 12 months ago.
They were in League One at the time, although he was unable to fend off relegation with that confirmed in May, and their poor form has continued into the fourth tier of English football - winning only one of their last 12 - which has forced the club into a difficult decision this Sunday.
A club statement read: "Fleetwood Town can confirm Charlie Adam has left the club with immediate effect.
"Owner Jamie Pilley said: 'I’d like to personally thank Charlie for his commitment and professionalism over the last 12 months. He’s been a pleasure to work with but recent results meant we felt a change was necessary. I wish him well for the future.'
"All at Fleetwood Town would like to thank Charlie for his hard work and commitment. The Club will issue a further update on the first team staff in due course."
After yesterday's 2-0 defeat to mid-table Barrow, Adam leaves The Cod Army 18th in League Two - eight points above relegation to the National League.
