The power of social media in this 21st century is something that we couldn’t have foreseen just twenty years ago. Along with supporters across the country, [West Ham’](https://www.claretandhugh.info/west-ham-v-brighton-the-morning-after/)s young football fans would queue for hours just for autographs or signed photos. The only interaction between fans and footballers was carefully choreographed or via ‘chance encounters’ with tabloid journalists and photographers.
All change now. West Ham’s superstars are taking to twitter and instagram – rightly or wrongly – in response to comment and criticism. Sometimes this doesn’t have a good feel – Mohammed Kudus got embroiled on twitter with critics in Ghana which quickly turned ugly – but yesterday fellow Hammer Jean Clair Todibo took to social media in response to a direct plea from a fan, who messaged him:”_Great Performance, don’t leave please’_ – to which Todibo replied directly :_“I’m not gonna leave big man. West Ham are Massive. Don’t believe the media”_

Becoming something of a ‘Marmite’ defender for the Hammers, Todibo seems to divide opinion between those who think he is supremely talented and those who would see him relegated behind Mavropanos owing to the reported bust ups and dressing room disharmony. Todibo was left out last week and didn’t travel with the squad, further fuelling speculation of a falling out with Lopetegui.
However, if it is true, reports of his discontent would seem overblown which is good news on so many levels for West Ham and their supporters.
Good that the Hammers’ defender is planning to stay. Good that – hopefully – the reported bust-ups are over egged and Todibo is happy in Claret and Blue.
And great for one West Ham United fan to grab his own ‘exclusive’!
