Lopetegui raved about 'remarkable' Hammer, now Sullivan confidant says West Ham want to sell him

One West Ham United player could be sold in January, in spite of Julen Lopetegui lauding him recently.

The upcoming January transfer window will be a vitally important one for West Ham, and Julen Lopetegui of course, if he is indeed still at the club.

Graham Potter is allegedly being lined up to replace the beleaguered Hammers head coach.

Should we fail to beat Southampton on Boxing Day, the Spaniard may well be sent packing.

However, a couple of good results before the end of the year could see the narrative significantly flip.

And Lopetegui will undoubtedly have one eye on the January window.

That said, the noises coming out of the London Stadium at the moment are concerning potential player exits, rather than incomings.

West Ham want to sell player Julen Lopetegui rates very highly

The Spaniard may well have a player sold from beneath his feet this winter, if he is still in charge of the Hammers of course.

Whilst we need two top-class additions in January, moving on some of the deadwood will be vital as well.

And Guido Rodriguez in particular seems to be completely finished at West Ham now.

According to Claret and Hugh, West Ham are prepared to sell the Argentina international in the January transfer window.

Lopetegui was the driving force behind Rodriguez’s move to the London Stadium, and the Hammers head coach recently raved about the midfielder, describing him as ‘remarkable’.

If we’re being honest here, Rodriguez is nowhere near good enough to succeed in the Premier League.

He lacks the physicality and pace required to do so.

Guido Rodriguez was a poor signing to begin with from West Ham, and he has already fallen well down the central midfield pecking order at the London Stadium.

The Hammers signed him on a free transfer in the summer, so we should actually be able to make a quick profit on him.

And if we manage to sell him for a nominal fee when the January window opens, it will end up being good business for the club.
