Bayern Munich are reportedly still interested in RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons. This certainly has the makings of a lengthy story to it, with the club having pondered a splurge for the player for a while now. Recent reports have hinted that Bayern might be looking at the player as a plan B in the event that a dream Florian Wirtz signing falls through.
Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg (@Plettigoal) reports that while there are no new talks between the club and the player, Bayern would have a chance if they decided to pursue his signing with intent. The fleet-footed attacking midfielder is capable of playing all 3 positions behind the striker and can also thrive as a false-9, much like the profile of a certain Jamal Musiala.

⚠️ The 21y/o‘s future for summer remains undecided. However, Bayern would have a chance if they decide to pursue him seriously.

It certainly feels like the board might be looking for a specific player profile since Musiala and Olise seem to be doing very well in wider creative roles. With Simons potentially in the fold, Vincent Kompany could have all the tools he needs to establish a free-flowing attack with players able to switch positions throughout the game.
The Bayern brass might be brewing something big for next summer.
Buckle up, folks.
