Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski has admitted that he was far from his best once more in the club’s most recent outing.
Barca, of course, marked their return to action last night, welcoming Atlético Madrid to Catalunya’s capital for a top-of-the-table La Liga showdown.
When all was said and done, Hansi Flick’s troops found themselves condemned to the wrong side of a 2-1 result, owing to a last-gasp Alexander Sørloth winner.
The aforementioned Robert Lewandowski, for his part, featured from the off once more in the clash, in his customary berth at centre-forward.
The Polish international, however, struggled to make an impact over the 90 minutes, singled out for heavy criticism on the part of Barcelona’s supporters as a result.
Speaking to the media in the game’s aftermath, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of his recent struggles was put to Lewandowski himself.
And the veteran goalscorer did not shy away in admitting:
“In the last 2-3 games, I’ve lacked calmness inside the box.”
