Pep Guardiola warned 'every manager is sackable' amid torrid Man City run

Pep Guardiola isn't immune from the sack at Manchester City having continued their unprecedented and dismal run of form.

That's the view of talkSPORT's Jason Cundy after City were beaten for the sixth time in 17 Premier League matches this season.

A 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa has left the reigning champions in sixth, four points off the top four and nine adrift of leaders Liverpool.

City have lost nine of their last 12 matches in all competitions and just one of those fixtures has ended in a win.

Guardiola extended his contract at the club until 2027 last month and is therefore set to complete a full decade in the coming years.

He has won six Premier League titles amongst various other honours but his legendary status seemingly does not exempt him from the sack at City.

Speaking on the GameDay Phone-In, Cundy compared Guardiola to Jose Mourinho at Chelsea when he was sacked after a poor run.

"This reminds me, I've said this for quite a while now, reminds me so much of what Jose went through in 2015," he told Jamie O'Hara.

"Where everything Jose touched turned to gold, one way or another, silverware, he knew how to get out of a mess.

"That season, we were in a tailspin, this reminds me so much of it and I'm not sure quite right now that Pep knows how to fix it, or even what is wrong.

"There's so much wrong with City, defensively they're so open, attacking wise they're not creating anything, there's so much wrong right now. I know people point at Rodri and that's fair.

"But the reality is, there's so much up the top of the pitch, they're not creating like they used to, the other end, they're so open, these are concerning times for City."

"Is he sackable?" asked O'Hara, and Cundy replied: "Every manager is sackable mate."

O'Hara then claimed that Guardiola can't be sacked and continued to insist this despite his co-host repeating the opposite.

"I'm not saying they are or will but to say that one manager is not sackable, that to me is a dangerous game to play," Cundy added.

He later stressed: "No manager is unsackable, no one's unsackable, no one!"

Tottenham, Bournemouth, Sporting Lisbon, Brighton, Liverpool, Juventus, Manchester United and Villa have all beaten City of late.

It's increasingly unlikely they'll defend their Premier League crown even if they repeat their usual New Year run of wins.

Qualification for the Champions League last 16 is also hanging in the balance as they're only a point above bottom the 12.

City and Guardiola are certainly going through an off-season and will be desperate to regain some winning form in 2025.
