Darwin Nunez out as seven Liverpool changes made by Arne Slot for Tottenham

Liverpool's team news confirmed as the Reds are hosted by Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League

Darwin Nunez drops to the bench for Liverpool as Luis Diaz leads the line against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League. The Reds are hosted by Spurs knowing victory will see them spend Christmas Day at the top of the table and Arne Slot has made seven changes in total.

Nunez, who started and scored in Wednesday night's Carabao Cup win against Southampton, is only part of the substitutes in North London as Slot resists the temptation to start fit-again Diogo Jota in favour of Diaz, who leads the line as a centre-forward once more. Cody Gakpo keeps his place on the left, while Mohamed Salah returns on the opposite flank.

In defence, captain Virgil van Dijk returns to the side to partner Joe Gomez, while Andy Robertson is back after sitting out Wednesday night at Southampton through suspension following his red card against Fulham last week. Trent Alexander-Arnold keeps his place at right-back while Alisson Becker starts in goal.

Alexis Mac Allister starts in midfield alongside a returning Ryan Gravenberch with Dominik Szoboszlai entrusted to operate furthest forward of the three in the engine room. Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott are on the bench with Wataru Endo, who starred as a makeshift centre-back against the Saints in midweek.

Liverpool: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Gakpo; Diaz.

Subs: Kelleher, Elliott, Endo, Jota, Nunez, Tsimikas, Jones, Quansah, Nyoni.
