The first half of Chelsea’s game against Everton earlier was quite a boring one.
The likes of Cole Palmer and Jadon Sancho were pretty quiet for Chelsea in the first 45 minutes by their standards.
However, there was one Chelsea star who impressed former Blues defender Jason Cundy. It was never going to be an easy game for the visitors, with the home side holding Arsenal to a 0-0 draw last weekend.
Before the match, Everton manager Sean Dyche praised Enzo Maresca, stating that he has done a good job so far this season.

Jason Cundy thought Pedro Neto was ‘brilliant’ in first half against Everton
Everton were able to restrict Chelsea’s attack really well in the first half of their Premier League tie at Goodison.
For Cundy, though, Pedro Neto was still a threat despite the 24-year-old not being able to help his side find the breakthrough.
Speaking about Neto after a good bit of play on the right, Cundy said on Chelsea’s official website (22/12/2024 at 14:40): “Brilliant. Even though it’s been sporadic, his impact on this game has been good.”
The Portuguese returned to the starting XI after missing Chelsea’s 2-1 win against Brentford because of suspension. Before the match, Neto spoke about his disappointment after getting suspended.

Chelsea’s underwhelming first half
Neto may have been one of Chelsea’s better players in the first 45 minutes at Goodison Park. But overall, the Portugal international and the rest of the team did not do enough.
Again, Dyche was always going to make it difficult for them, as he did for Arsenal. Chelsea’s recent record at Goodison is not great either; they will be glad to see the back of that stadium.
As for Neto, while he did have some bright moments, you cannot help but feel that the Blues have not seen the best of him yet. He went into the game having scored just one league goal since joining Chelsea in the summer.
Next up for the former Wolverhampton Wanderers star and his teammates is a west London derby against Fulham.
