Chelsea were denied top spot in the Premier League as they were held to a 0-0 draw by Everton at Goodison Park.
Enzo Maresca’s men would have moved into first place ahead of Liverpool with a win, albeit possibly only temporarily with the Reds playing Tottenham later on Sunday, but they couldn’t find a way through Everton’s stern defence.
The visitors dominated large parts of the first half, seeing 76.2% possession and having eight attempts to Everton’s two. It remained goalless at the break, though, despite Nicolas Jackson hitting the woodwork and Malo Gusto having an effort cleared off the line.
Chelsea seemed to run out of ideas in the second half, though, only having another four attempts at goal.
Chelsea are undefeated in their last nine games in the Premier League, with their last joint longest unbeaten streak from 27 January 2021 to 13 March 2021.
Meanwhile, Everton have kept clean sheets in five of their last six Premier League games, and followed up an impressive goalless draw against a title contender with another.
