We rate the players from Chelsea’s Premier League clash with Everton on Sunday.
Chelsea became the latest club to fail to break Everton’s resolve on Sunday, with the two sides playing out a well-contested goalless draw. The Blues saw their title bid suffer a setback with the stalemate, while the Toffees strengthened their survival bid with their fifth clean sheet in six games.
It was a fast-paced opening at Goodison Park, but the first half brought little in the way of chances. Nicolas Jackson was denied by Jordan Pickford from close range, and Mangala tested Robert Sanchez with a long distance effort.
It took until the last 15 minutes of the second half for things to open up, and for Everton to force a world-class, goal-saving block from Tosin Adarabioyo. There was little in the way of chances after that point, with Everton defending excellently to the death. Here we rate the players from the draw.
Robert Sanchez - 9
Produced a wonderful save to deny Mangala from range in the 38th minute. He then stuck out a leg to deny Jack Harrison from close range just four minutes after the break. Sanchez also got an important touch on a dangerous cross in the 76th minute. He didn’t stop it, but the touch proved crucial in preventing the a goal. A momentous display.
Malo Gusto - 5
He did let Jack Harrison slip for a second half chance and lost his man to give up a big chance with around 14 minutes left. Other than that, Gusto set the tone with physicality but was below par with his positioning here. He did come close with a first half chance, too, but was denied by Pickford.
Tosin Adarabioyo - 8
Performed well and rarely gave up anything that Everton could take advantage of. Everton broke through down Chelsea’s left with around 14 minutes left, and Tosin produced a world-class block at full stretch to save what would have been a certain goal.
Levi Colwill - 7
Rarely troubled. The Chelsea centre-back pairing will be pleased with their work here.
Axel Disasi - 6
Didn’t want to get close to N’Diaye to avoid being beaten, and that led to a fair few of uncontested passes and crosses that caused issues. Overall, defensively solid, though.
Enzo Fernandez - 7
Did well in the final third, in particular, often threading his way through to open up lanes to the front three. It wasn’t as easy breaking down Everton’s back four, but Enzo regularly provided access to them by beating the Toffees midfield.
Moises Caicedo - 7
Solid in front of the midfield, as always. Caicedo didn’t get on the ball too often, but he did his defensive duties well.
Cole Palmer - 6
Produced a nice low pass for Jackson in the first half, although it was a little behind him. Palmer did force some half chances with fancy footwork, but he found it hard to create meaningful space against an Everton back line with plenty of reinforcements.
Pedro Neto (Off at 75’) - 4
Ineffective for much of the afternoon and was lucky not to come off earlier.
Jadon Sancho - 6
Initially struggled to get involved and find space in a tight game. Sancho did show impetus on the ball in the second half, running at his man and providing crosses, but little came of it. He gets an extra point based on his application and commitment, showing lots of desire until the very end.
Nicolas Jackson (Off at 75’) - 4
Perhaps should have scored with 25 minutes on the clock, but the pass was slightly behind him, restricting his options. He also hit the post from a tight angle. Non-existent other than that, unable to find any space.

Struggled to make an impact against Everton’s low block.
Struggled to get the better of Mykolenko.
