Mikel Arteta marks his 5th anniversary in **Arsenal**‘s managerial career. Today we are gonna have a recap of his 5 year journey with this club.
A DEPRESSING START FOR MIKEL ARTETA
The debut season of Arteta’s managerial career has been a rollercoaster ride. With the starting of the Covid-19 pandemic, it started off as a horrendous start of his career.
As a result of that, many memories, heartbreaks, and successes have been a part of Arteta’s system. Going for a titanic battle against Pep’s dominant Manchester City.
The Corona has been a tough phase for the Gunner coach.
The 2020 year has been a horrendous season for Arsenal. It is quite shocking and an achievement in itself, how that team never got relegated.
Even though they had a terrible season in the domestic league, they won the FA Cup by defeating Manchester City in the semifinal and then their rivals Chelsea in the final.
After all those worst possessions and worst gameplay, they still managed to beat them in the hardest way possible.
Their dark-time hero Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored all of their clutch goals in the knockout stages and the final stages to make this team hard.
Even during this time, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli were the youngsters starting their early years.
A LIFE OF UPS AND DOWNS
Many news flourished during the cultural change in the Arsenal squad. Ozil was their star player who was already regarded as a legend arriving from Real Madrid.
However, Arteta’s over-judgment and trust issues forced Ozil to be out of the squad and he left.
2021 has been another bad year for Mikel Arteta. They ended August by being thrashed at the hands of Manchester City.
They did not even score any goals in their first ever three matches in the club’s history.
However, we all know there is hope in darkness. Martin Odegaard joined the club for £30 million from Real Madrid. The midfielder was unique in Arteta’s minds.
Ben White and Aaron Ramsdale also arrived at Arsenal. So, they spent a lot in their disappointing year because they wanted a good squad to turn back.
Five years ago today Mikel Arteta was announced as the Arsenal manager.
Five years on and the club is in the best position it’s been in, in the last decade.

Since Jover joined the Gunners, they have scored and made a record of scoring the most corner goals in Premier League.
Arteta was ruthless in his tactics. His sudden change can intimidate many players which will either be good or end badly.
Aubameyang was probably yet another victim of Arteta’s tactics. His made-up mind cost him his captaincy, and his inconsistency also cost him to part ways with the team and go to Barcelona on February 2nd on a free transfer.
From then started a new era of Arteta’s reign of rebuilding Arsenal. 2022 was the year all changed. With signing Gabriel Jesus and Zinchenko, Arsenal have been quite deadly in the Premier League run.
With winning 22 matches out of 27 matches across all competitions. They quite became the challengers of City for the title.
So, as a result of this, the emergence of two new talents came out of Arsenal who were Saka and Odegaard.
From then on, Arsenal went on a massive win streak. After a comeback from 2-0 down against Bournemouth. Arteta had other plans, his super sub-Reiss Nelson converted the scoreline in the last minute, thrashing Neto to seal the deal.
AUTHOR’S OPINION
We all know that Arteta has a poor record against the top sides. In January 2023, they beat Tottenham, for the first time in eight years.
After that, they managed to even defeat Pep’s Manchester City in a late drama by Gabriel Martinelli. Even after so many relentless performances, because of the poor records against big clubs, it quite cost him the titles, not once but twice in his 5-year managerial career.
They were later knocked out by Bayern Munich in the Champions League which also reduced their confidence in their overall tactics.
Arteta has even replied to the press about him winning only a single trophy. So, he replied with three Charity Shields and also his next target was the Community Shield.
Now that Arsenal is in yet another good position on the European stage, they can still have time to win and seal the deal with their signings and win more trophies in the future.
Overall, the Gunners’ fans will surely be curious about Arteta’s tactics.
