Former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel has expressed his disappointment with the Red Devils after their 3-0 loss against Bournemouth on Sunday (December 22). United have now recorded back-to-back defeats across competitions following their 4-3 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in a midweek Carabao Cup tie.
Ruben Amorim's men enjoyed more possession (60%) against the Cherries and had their share of chances as well. The Red Devils registered 23 attempts, compared to the visitors' 10, while finding the target seven times, compared to the Cherries' five shots on target.
Disappointed in the team's failure to convert chances, Schmeichel said (via @centredevils):
“Very disappointing. Too many mistakes. It doesn't really look like a team. They had chances at the end of the first half but didn't take them and then it goes 2-0 and 3-0.”

Bournemouth took the lead in this game through a 29th-minute header from Dean Huijsen. Heading into the second half with their one-goal lead intact, Justin Kluivert converted his spot-kick to double the Cherries' lead in the 61st minute. Just two minutes later, Antoine Semenyo secured the three points, scoring from close range.
After the match's conclusion, Manchester United are placed 13th in the Premier League standings, nine points behind the top four. Meanwhile, Bournemouth have enjoyed a stellar start to the new campaign and are fifth, just three points short of fourth-placed Nottingham Forest.
Up next for the Red Devils is a Boxing Day fixture against Wolves at Molineux Stadium.

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has had a difficult start to life at Old Trafford since taking over in November. His team have won just two of their six Premier League outings since then.
The Red Devils have been beaten by Bournemouth, Nottingham Forest and Arsenal, while playing out a draw with Ipswich Town. Speaking after his team's latest league defeat, Amorim said (via BBC Sport):
"It's really hard. We conceded one foul and one set-piece, and then we suffered a goal. We had a lot of opportunities without playing really well, but by winning second balls, creating chances, we were near the goal."
"We have to go again next game."
Manchester United have a busy period coming up, where they play Wolves, Newcastle United, and Liverpool in the span of 10 days. After that, they travel to the Emirates for a third-round FA Cup fixture against Arsenal on January 12.
