Barcelona attacking outcast skips Christmas break to work on his fitness

Following a defeat to Atletico Madrid, Barcelona will look to regroup and rethink their strategies as they go into a Christmas break.

The players will be on leave from December 23 to December 28. They return to training on December 29, roughly five days ahead of their Copa Del Rey encounter against Barbastro.

Ansu Fati skips Christmas break

However, even as the team enjoys the holiday break, Ansu Fati has decided to skip the rest and work on his fitness.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Fati has asked Barcelona to continue training during the Christmas period so that he can work on his overall game.

This comes on the back of Fati’s struggles this season, both with injuries and a lack of game-time.

During the pre-season campaign, new coach Hansi Flick had shown immense faith in Fati. But after a promising start, the forward’s progress was marred by an injury.

Fati recently received the clearance to feature against Atletico Madrid. But he did not appear in what was a disappointing performance from Barcelona.

For this reason, Fati is keen on working on his game and making an impression in early 2025. His request has been well received by Flick and Deco, who are impressed by the attacker’s commitment.

However, it must be noted that Fati is one of the strong contenders to leave Barcelona ahead of the January transfer window, as the forward has fallen out of favour under Flick.

The next few weeks, therefore, could be make or break for the Spaniard, as he looks to salvage his career at Barcelona.
