One member of the attacking ranks at Barcelona has taken the responsibility for the club’s defeat at the hands of Atlético Madrid squarely on his own two shoulders.
The player in question? Raphinha.
Wide-man Raphinha for his part featured from the off once more on Saturday night.
This came as Barcelona welcomed the aforementioned Atlético to Catalunya’s capital, for a meeting between La Liga’s top two.
When all was said and done, it was the latter who emerged on the right side of the result, thanking a last-gasp strike on the part of Alexander Sørloth for a 2-1 triumph.
Raphinha endured a difficult go of things over the 90 minutes, missing a clear-cut chance to put the Blaugrana two goals in front, before surrendering possession in the buildup to Atléti’s 2nd.
And, evidently, the significance of such woes was not at all lost on the Brazilian international himself.
Speaking to the media in the aftermath of Saturday’s defeat, Raphinha took full blame onboard, in admitting:
“I, particularly, am at fault for this defeat today. In the end, I missed a goal and I think about five minutes later they got the equalizer and then I missed a pass that led to their second goal. I put all of today’s defeat on myself. Life is like that.”
