It’s getting crowded out there in the pre-January market place. Reports are forthcoming for a variety of players apparently attracting interest from West Ham with other clubs hot on their heels chasing the same players. We know how important the striker acquisition has become since Antonio’s accident – and in addition a ‘midfield upgrade on a budget’ is on the cards.
Former Chelsea midfielder Hakim Ziyech is apparently the latest to be linked with ‘interest’ from West Ham: He had an successful spell at West London with 64 appearances for The Blues and moved to Galatasaray in the summer.
Now apparently, along with many who have made the move to Turkey – he is unhappy and wants back into the Premier League.

Give Me Sport have reported a fichajes.com article today confirming:”West Ham and Ipswich Town are the two Premier League clubs monitoring Ziyech’s situation at RAMS Park. The Hammers could look to add the 64-cap Morocco international’s creativity to a midfield that has been performing inconsistently this season.”
Many would be disappointed if this turns out to be a ‘live’ recruitment chase – at thirty one Ziyech is not heading anywhere but down, and I had hoped the Hammers are done with paying loads for over thirties with no residual value.
Ziyech is a former Champions League winner with Chelsea but Hammers’ experience should already warn them that thirty-something former trophy winners such as Guido Rodriguez don’t necessarily fit straight into the fast pace of the Premier League.
West Ham had been reported as planning to raid the championship for talent rather than blow the budget on expensive overseas bit-part players . So I’m kind of hoping this one comes to nothing in January.
