Jamie Carragher knows what Arsenal and Chelsea are thinking about Liverpool in title race

Liverpool’s strong start to the Premier League season has not gone unnoticed, and former Reds defender Jamie Carragher believes Arsenal and Chelsea are paying close attention to the league leaders.

Arne Slot's side sits four points clear at the top of the table after a nine-goal thriller against Tottenham. Luis Diaz opened the scoring after a brilliant cross into the box from Trent Alexander-Arnold teed him up. Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai both then scored before the interval with James Maddison pulling one back in between.

Mohamed Salah added his name to the scoresheet in second-half. Seven minutes later, he had his second and Liverpool's fifth before Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke made it 5-3. Diaz got his second and Liverpool's sixth with just five minutes remaining.

Speaking on Sky Sports after the game, Carragher was asked if he thought the victory was significant in the title race. And he theorized that Arsenal and Chelsea would be watching with the same concern.

"Yeah it does" says Carragher. "I felt that coming here today, it felt like a really big game.

"I come back to the last time Liverpool won the league and around this time of the year they went to Leicester and won 4-0 and it felt really significant. I do think there will be a little frustration in that dressing room that the score isn’t 6-1 or 7-1 and is 6-3.

"That might actually be a good thing - ‘we’ve had a great result are top of the table but we can’t let that happen again'.

"At one stage we were thinking that if Tottenham score from a corner and it could go 5-4. But I thought Liverpool were outstanding and if you watch that and are Chelsea or Arsenal you think they will take some stopping." added Carragher.

Liverpool.com says: The Reds seem to be unstoppable currently. Their performance against Tottenham was incredible and if the Reds can continue grinding out results, they could be the ones to lift the trophy in May.
