Chelsea away end make true Frank Lampard feelings clear against Everton

Chelsea supporters serenaded Frank Lampard on Sunday during their goalless draw with Everton in the Premier League.

Lampard became a legend at Chelsea as a player and has had two separate stints as manager at Stamford Bridge. His first tenure lasted a year and a half with the Blues averaging 1.75 points per match.

After leaving in January 2021, Lampard returned to the dugout in January 2022 where he led Everton to safety in the Premier League. However, his next season saw the Toffees struggle again towards the bottom of the table and he was fired.

Less than three months later, Lampard returned to Chelsea as a caretaker manager after Graham Potter was sacked. However, this spell was short but not sweet as the Blues won just one of 11 matches under his leadership.

After stepping aside to allow Mauricio Pochettino to take over, Lampard took a break away from football management. He worked as a pundit for the BBC during the Euros and Amazon Prime for the Champions League but it seemed his time on the touchline had ended until he was appointed Coventry City manager in November.

It appears that while Lampard's time as a manager was not fully successful, he is still adored by the Chelsea fans. As spotted by our colleagues at the Liverpool Echo, the Blues away supporters could be heard chanting: "Super Frank Lampard" during the draw at Everton, making their feelings on their ex-player known to the home supporters.

The point at Goodison Park saw Chelsea miss the opportunity to go top of the Premier League and they are now four points back after Liverpool's 6-3 victory over Tottenham Hotspur. Arne Slot's side also have a game in hand over Chelsea, against Everton, which will be played in the New Year.
