The new Wolves boss was in a positive mood after Sunday's win against fellow Premier League strugglers Leicester City.
New Wolves manager Vitor Pereira could not hide his delight after his managerial reign got underway with what could be a crucial win at Leicester City.
Both sides were sat firmly in the Premier League relegation battle ahead of Sunday afternoon’s clash at the King Power Stadium - but it’s Wolves that will take some momentum into the festive period after three first-half goals helped the Portuguese boss pick up all three points in the first game since he was appointed as successor to former manager Gary O’Neil. Goncalo Guedes got the scoring underway on 20 minutes before a quickfire double in the final stages of the first-half from Rodrigo Gomes and top goalscorer Matheus Cunha helped take Wolves out of sight and leave their new manager to reflect on an overwhelmingly positive managerial debut.
He told the club website: “To be here, I cannot explain. I started as a coach when I was 29 and I am now 56, so it means that it’s been a long, long journey to come here and it’s a privilege. It was very good spirit. A true spirit, which is what I want from this team. What I asked from them, is that at the end of the game we must feel proud about the work that we did and make proud our supporters, and I’m very happy for this. Of course, we need to improve a lot of things, but the true spirit was there, and this is most important for me.”
There were joyous scenes at full-time as a healthy band of travelling support celebrated a rare away win that lifted their side to within touching distance of escaping the relegation zone. The new man in charge at Molineux left the Wolves supporters in no doubt over the role they have to play as he looks to guide them to safety between now and the end of what has already been a difficult season.

“It was fantastic because alone, we cannot win,” explained the Wolves boss. “We need the supporters, we need the club, we need everybody. We must be committed and united to improve. I want to improve the team and they will improve in possession, because I don't like a team just to play in counter attack, but for today, it was good.
“I’m encouraged by the team and by the supporters too. They are fantastic. I know the efforts that they did to come here, but together, I think we can do something special.”
