Barcelona, rival willing to pay €65m for Manchester United star who has lost support of…

Atletico Madrid and Barcelona are both ready to pay €65 million for Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford who seems to have lost the dressing room.

Marcus Rashford’s future has become a massive talking point as he has been left out of the Manchester United squad for three games in a row under Ruben Amorim. The English international has been linked with a move away from the club and he has suggested that he is ready to take on a new challenge.

According to a report from Fichajes, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona are two clubs that are keen on his signature and are ready to fork out €65 million to acquire his services. Both Spanish giants are looking to add more firepower to their attack and they consider Rashford to be just the perfect fit for their system.

The 28-year-old who came up the ranks at Old Trafford has been a part of their first team for over eight years. While he was expected to be their next big star, things haven’t been that great for him in recent years.

Rashford was firing on all cylinders during the 2022/23 season following which he signed a massive £350,000-a-week contract. Unfortunately, things have only gone downhill for him since.

Marcus Rashford’s downfall

He has lost his spot in the team and has been forced to fight for prominence. With him struggling for form, Ruben Amorim ended up benching him for the derby against Manchester City.

While United won the massive clash against Pep Guardiola’s team and the mood in the camp was really high, it all changed following an unauthorized Rashford interview where he suggested that he was ready for a new challenge.

The English international said via The Sun: “Personally, I think I’m ready for a new challenge and the next steps.”

This interview hasn’t really gone down well with his teammates and people at the club. The report by The Sun suggests that he has lost the confidence and support of his teammates following his statement which suggested that he was ready to leave his childhood club.

Post his interview, he was left out of the squad for the EFL Cup game against Tottenham and the Premier League outing against Bournemouth. While Ruben Amorim has left the door open for his return, it looks very unlikely.

Rashford could move to Spain

The club seems prepared to sanction his departure and clubs in Spain are keen on prising him away. Atletico and Barcelona both seek more firepower in the final third of the pitch.

Diego Simeone wants to bring in a world-class versatile forward and Rashford’s profile seems to fit the bill. He could help them compete domestically as well as in Europe. Meanwhile, the Catalan giants are also looking to add more quality to their attack and they feel he could do wonders under Hansi Flick.

Despite his recent struggles, both clubs are ready to invest a massive €65 million to bring him to Spain. With his contract running until the summer of 2028, the figure should be good enough to tempt the Red Devils to sell their academy graduate.
