Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has revealed that he was beyond happy with the nature of his side’s performance in their meeting with Atlético Madrid on Saturday.
Barca, of course, are fresh off another hugely frustrating outing yesterday evening.
After welcoming Atlético Madrid to Catalunya’s capital for a top-of-the-table La Liga clash, the Blaugrana were ultimately put to the sword for the 2nd league game on the bounce.
This came after Pedri’s opener was first cancelled out by Rodrigo De Paul, before Alexander Sørloth completed the turnaround deep into injury-time.
Atléti’s winner, when it came, was widely labelled a smash-and-grab, after Barcelona dominated the bulk of the 90 minutes, only to be left to rue a host of missed goalscoring opportunities.
And, owing to as much, Blaugrana boss Hansi Flick managed to take the positives away from the matchup.
Speaking in the aftermath of his side’s latest defeat, the German tactician moved to praise his side, in assuring:
“We played exactly as I want to see. That’s the style I want here at Barça. I’m sad for the result as losing 9 points at home is not normal… but performance, it was great. That’s how I want the team to play.”
