Pep Guardiola watched in frustration as Manchester City suffered a 2-1 defeat at Aston Villa. The four-time reigning Premier League champions are struggling, having won just one of their last 12 games in all competitions.
City fell behind early due to Jhon Durán’s goal following a shaky start. While they created a few chances, they never seemed secure at the back. Villa posed a constant threat on the counter, and Morgan Rogers sealed the win in the second half.
With a month until their next challenge, City will look to turn things around before facing Paris Saint-Germain on January 22nd in Matchday 7 of the UEFA Champions League’s league phase.

A month out from the clash, Manchester City need to overcome this poor recent form. Erling Haaland spoke to TNT Sports and noted where the confidence level is at after their latest loss.
“Of course, not the best,” Haaland said (h/t [NBC Sports](https://www.nbcsports.com/soccer/news/pep-guardiola-reaction-manchester-city-boss-gives-his-verdict-on-defeat-at-aston-villa)). “We know how important confidence is and you can see that it affects every human being. That is how it is, we have to continue and stay positive even though it is difficult.”
PSG wrapped up 2024 with a Coupe de France Round of 64 match against RC Lens on Sunday. Looking ahead to 2025, they’ll start the year with a Trophée des Champions clash against AS Monaco.
Following that, they’ll play two Ligue 1 games—one against Lens and another against AS Saint-Étienne—before hosting Manchester City at the Parc des Princes.
