Press Room | Comments after Monza-Juve

Coach Thiago Motta and goalscorers Weston McKennie and Nico Gonzalez share their thoughts after Juventus' victory over Monza.

"We played the game to win, when we took the lead we were doing well, then after the equaliser we were good at getting back into the game the right way. We had to be better in the transitions, which would have perhaps allowed us to score more goals, but instead, the game remained open. However Monza did well, with quality players and a coach who is doing a great job. Winning matches like today's is part of our growth process, now we have to recover those who have to return, rest and prepare the challenge against Fiorentina. Having players like Wes [McKennie] and Nico [Gonzalez] is important, very important: they are players who in addition to technique have a great willingness to help the team. It's no coincidence that they scored and they deserve it."

"To win was very important, we have drawn too many games recently: three points before Christmas was crucial for us, for the fans, for each and every family. We're happy and we're moving forward. Coach Motta? He's made a great impact, at the start of the season he asked me to work, and I like him, as I like his attitude with the team. Nico Gonzalez? He has South American energy, I like him a lot, it's always nice to see a player like that in the team, even in difficult moments: we are similar."

"I am very happy, first of all because it is important for the team to win; and then for my return, and for the two goals this week. I have to thank the team, which gives me great support. This is the right way, we have to continue like this. My position? If they ask me, I can also be goalkeeper... I feel comfortable, so I'm happy."
