Sky Sports pundit and former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has urged the club to sign Fulham's Antonee Robinson in the upcoming January transfer window.
Arne Slot's side have enjoyed a strong first half of the season as they find themselves top of the Premier League and Champions League at Christmas. They have suffered just one defeat across all competitions under the Dutchman this term.
However, they have dropped points in the league in recent weeks, including a hectic 2-2 draw at home to Fulham earlier this month. Left back Andy Robertson was shown a red card early in that game for a last-man offence, summing up a hit and miss season so far.
One player that did stand out at Anfield last week was Fulham defender Robinson. The USA international joined the London club from Wigan back in 2020 and has established himself as one of the most in-form players in his position this season.
Carragher, speaking to Sky Sports ahead of Sunday's Premier League victory against Tottenham, predicted Liverpool will be in the market for a new left back in January and Robinson would be an ideal reinforcement. “He was outstanding [against Liverpool]," the pundit said.
"He was the best player on the pitch. When you are going to Anfield and you are playing against Mohamed Salah – possibly the best player in the Premier League this season – and you come out of it with a Man of the Match award, that shows you how highly he is thought of.
"Yes, I think Liverpool probably will be shopping for a left-back in January and I’m sure he will be top of the list.”
Robinson's age of 27 could be a stumbling block, however, with Bournemouth's Milos Kerkez also among the names linked with a move to Anfield ahead of the transfer window. At 21 years of age, the Hungary international represents an ideal age profile and was also signed by sporting director Richard Hughes during his time with the Cherries.
