Todd Boehly recieves'inevitable'warning as Chelsea battle Real Madrid for wonderkid transfer

Chelsea were left frustrated in a 0-0 draw at Everton on Sunday afternoon which saw their Premier League title hopes dented.

Enzo Maresca's side were unable to find the breakthrough on Merseyside to leave Goodison Park with just a point. The result leaves Chelsea four points off league leaders Liverpool, having also played a game more than Arne Slot's team.

Next up for the Blues is a London derby at home to Fulham on Boxing Day (kick-off: 3pm). Below are some of the latest headlines surrounding Stamford Bridge as well as a view on each of them...

Carragher concern

Speaking on Sky Sports after the game, Jamie Carragher was asked if he thought Liverpool's victory over Tottenham was significant in the title race. And he theorized that Arsenal and Chelsea would be watching with the same concern.

"Yeah it does" says Carragher. "I felt that coming here today, it felt like a really big game.

"I come back to the last time Liverpool won the league and around this time of the year they went to Leicester and won 4-0 and it felt really significant. I do think there will be a little frustration in that dressing room that the score isn’t 6-1 or 7-1 and is 6-3.

"That might actually be a good thing - ‘we’ve had a great result are top of the table but we can’t let that happen again'.

"At one stage we were thinking that if Tottenham score from a corner and it could go 5-4. But I thought Liverpool were outstanding and if you watch that and are Chelsea or Arsenal you think they will take some stopping."

Football.london's Isaac Seelochan says: "It feels inevitable that Liverpool will be champions. this season. Chelsea lack the experience and Arsenal don't have the quality up front.

"Next season, though, the Blues should be seen as legitimate title challenges if they can upgrade their goalkeeper and centre-backs in the summer."

Transfer link

Chelsea have reportedly joined Real Madrid in the hunt for Las Palmas talent Dário Essugo. The Portuguese made the move to Gran Canaria on a season-loan long deal from Sporting CP over the summer.

And Mundo Deportivo have claimed that 19-year-old Essugo's impressive performances in La Liga have led to interest from Madrid and Chelsea.

Football.london's Isaac Seelochan says: "Do Chelsea really need another midfielder? There are surely other areas, such as goalkeeper, centre-back and striker which need looking at with more urgency next summer."
