Liverpool leads the way in the Premier League and the Champions League this season but Arne Slot's side can still be even more finely tuned. With the festive period upon us, the January transfer window is now just around the corner.
A midfielder is the most likely position to be looked at during the winter window while longer term, it might be wise to look for a left-back and potentially a number nine. Even though Liverpool is playing very well, it is a good idea never to stand still.
Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today. We start with a bold claim about a Bayern Munich and Germany wonderkid.
Jamal Musiala (Bayern Munich)
Liverpool is poised and ready to pounce if a transfer deal for Bayern Munich attacking midfielder Jamal Musiala becomes a possibility, according to Rousing The Kop. The 21-year-old is under contract until 2026 but no agreement has been reached yet over an extension for the exciting young player who used to be in Chelsea's academy before he made the move to the Bundesliga giant.

It is still very much a possibility that Musiala will sign a new deal with Bayern Munich, and, of course, the Germany international has a year longer on his contract than some key men at Anfield, so all is not lost for Vincent Kompany. But Liverpool has supposedly "made contact" to express its interest should anything happen.
Liverpool.com says: Musiala would obviously be a great addition for the Reds, even though they are already very well-stocked in the number 10 department. How realistic a move would be, however, is another question entirely. If he doesn't pen an extension, it could be one to keep an eye on.
Jarrad Branthwaite (Everton)
Liverpool retains an interest in Everton center-back Jarrad Branthwaite, according to GiveMeSport. Linked extensively with a switch to Anfield from Goodison Park in the summer window, it would be an extremely difficult deal to get done.
Branthwaite is said to be valued at around $100m (£80m/€96m) but Everton would surely rather sell to anyone but Liverpool. Manchester City and Manchester United are both said to be sniffing around him.
Liverpool.com says: There are not many left-footed center-backs out there so it makes sense that Liverpool might like Branthwaite. Getting him from Everton, though, would likely be a non-starter. He wouldn't play ahead of Virgil van Dijk anyway.
