Incredible...: Matheus Cunha has become only the second player in Wolves’ history to achieve…

Wolves’ 3-0 victory over Leicester on Sunday marked the start of a new era at the Old Gold.

Vitor Pereira was appointed Wolves manager on Thursday and he has quickly managed to turn the club’s form around.

In a must-win game vs Leicester, the new head coach oversaw a dominant 3-0 victory where Wolves could have easily scored more.

Multiple players returned to form, with Goncalo Guedes particularly standing out.

However, one man who continued his fine scoring streak was Matheus Cunha who broke another record on Sunday.

Cunha picked up yet another goal on Sunday as he netted Wolves’ third of the match against the Foxes.

The Brazilian guided the ball into the net with the help of the post to put the Old Gold in complete control of the game before half-time.

This now takes the attacker’s tally up to nine Premier League goals this season which also places him seventh on the division’s current top scorers list.

On top of this, he has also moved up on the list of Wolves’ all-time top Premier League goalscorers.

Cunha’s goal against Leicester now means that the attacker has scored 23 times for the Old Gold in the Premier League. Therefore, the Brazilian has overtaken Steven Fletcher and is now up to second on the list.

However, Cunha still has a long way to go if he is to take the top spot, with Raul Jimenez sitting comfortably with 40 goals.

In the last two games, Cunha has shown how good he is. Despite not taking the headlines in either of the fixtures, he has popped up with a vital goal in big moments.

The Brazilian can simply not stop scoring and has easily been the club’s best player in the first half of the campaign.

If Wolves do stay up, they must resist selling Cunha and instead build a team around him.

Talks of extending Cunha’s contract have dried up in recent weeks after the club’s poor form but if they can escape the relegation zone, this must become a priority.
