Virgil van Dijk is coming to the end of his Liverpool contract
Real Madrid have reportedly shortlisted Liverpool centre-back Virgil van Dijk as they eye up a sensational double transfer. Trent Alexander-Arnold is also on their radar as he too, is coming to the end of his contract in the summer.
Although talks with Liverpool over a new deal are ongoing, Football Transfers report Real Madrid have identified Van Dijk as a possible replacement as Eder Militao and David Alaba continue to struggle after injuries.
The Netherlands international has become an important figure at Liverpool and has played the most minutes in 2024 than any other player in the Premier League, according to the CIES Football Observatory. Besides Van Dijk, the report adds that Bayer Leverkusen's Jonathan Tah is seen as a 'possible' reinforcement.

Marca meanwhile, have described Van Dijk as a 'dream' signing for the Spanish giants.
Elsewhere, the Reds are reportedly one of a host of clubs 'plotting' a swoop for highly-rated Arsenal teenager Ayden Heaven. Besides Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea are also interested, reveals TBR Football.
The 18-year-old is said to be reluctant to sign a professional deal as he evaluates his options. European clubs including Marseille, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen and Napoli are also mentioned.
Heaven quickly progressed through the ranks at Arsenal after impressing in the youth squads. So far this season, he was named a substitute in three Premier League games and one Champions League tie.
He made his senior debut in the EFL Cup during Arsenal's 3-0 win over Preston in October. The north Londoners are 'hopeful' of pursuing the youngster to sign a new deal.
