'Every time': Gary Lineker names the Newcastle player he thinks is becoming 'underrated' after…

Newcastle United produced another wondrous display as they beat Ipswich Town on Saturday.

The Magpies are finally finding their stride, as Newcastle beat Ipswich 4-0 at Portman Road.

In the aftermath of Newcastle United’s latest victory, all the chat has been about Alexander Isak and his first ever Toon hat-trick. The 25-year-old was outstanding, so much so that even the Ipswich Town fans clapped Isak off when he was substituted.

However, Newcastle’s most expensive signing ever was not the only Toon player to standout as Eddie Howe made it three wins on the bounce and guided the Magpies back into the top half of the Premier League.

While he was the player of the match, Isak ensured Jacob Murphy got praise for his performance.

The 29-year-old started on the right wing again, as he scored and got himself an assist. This is an incredible run for Jacob Murphy, who now has six goal contributions in his last three Premier League games.

His form is outstanding, and Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer have waxed lyrical about the Magpies’ number 23 on the latest episode of The Rest Is Football podcast.

“I think he’s a little bit underrated,” Lineker said.

“I mean, he puts in a shift every time, doesn’t he? He certainly delivered yesterday, caused some terrible problems down the left-hand side.”

Shearer responded: “Yeah, he’s been one of Eddie’s go-to guys and he’s never ever let him down.

“You could never ever question his attitude. He’s got a great attitude.

He always works his socks off for the team and he’s been getting his rewards with goals and assists and he’s having a great time at the minute.

“Got his goal yesterday, but I think for me, the most impressive thing was a little back heel, you know, for Isak’s hat-trick, which shows he’s full of confidence.”

Jacob Murphy is giving Newcastle a headache ahead of January

Murphy truly is full of confidence, at a time when Newcastle want to sign a right winger.

That is the Magpies’ priority ahead of the January transfer window, with Newcastle interested in Johan Bakayoko.

However, Murphy is doing his best to prove that Toon officials do not need to splash the cash next month. Instead, he is showing that he is more than capable of complimenting Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon in attack.

On current form, there is no disputing that. He has been incredibly impactful, while his contributions against Ipswich were beautiful. Murphy’s goal was an absolute rocket, while the backheel assist for Isak’s hat-trick goal was simply sublime.

But the problem for Murphy is often consistency. That is why Eddie Howe will be keen to bring in a fresh face in January, as competition for places only makes others better.
