Report: Newcastle's coaching staff believe something very exciting about Alexander Isak

Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak is special.

He continued to prove that on Saturday, as he scored a hat-trick in Newcastle’s 4-0 win over Ipswich Town.

It was Alexander Isak’s first ever hat-trick for the Magpies, while it was Newcastle United’s first hat-trick since Ayoze Perez got one against Southampton in 2019.

The Swede’s three goals at Portman Road means he has 11 goals in 18 games this season, with 10 of his strikes coming in the Premier League. He is the fourth highest scorer in the division, with Mo Salah, Erling Haaland Cole Palmer currently ahead of him.

Isak is in the mix for the golden boot, as he continues to get better and better as the season goes on.

They believe the 25-year-old can go to an even higher level, with the Athletic adding that Newcastle United insiders describe him as ‘unique’.

Massive pressure on Alexander Isak in 2025

In Alexander Isak, Newcastle United have the best striker in the Premier League right now. On current form, he is certainly ahead of Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland.

Isak is scoring for fun, with the forward boasting 10 goals in his last 11 games. After a slow start to the campaign, he really is enjoying a hot streak right now.

It is a good job he is, as Isak is Newcastle’s only fit and reliable striker right now. Will Osula is raw and yet to be truly trusted by Eddie Howe, while Callum Wilson is injured.

With the 32-year-old out of action until February, there is real pressure on Isak. He needs to score the goals that Newcastle require, while it is also pivotal that he avoids an injury of his own.

The latter is the big concern, as he has had fitness problems in the past. But Newcastle are managing him well at the moment, having had the luxury of being able to take him off early in their previous three games.

Eddie Howe will hope that trend continues, as he continues to rely on a world class striker who is capable of hitting even greater heights.
